Laguna – One of the ten Houses of Nua Verden. (See also Houses)​
Lamu Archipelago, Kenya – A tourist area in Kenya known for its mangrove forests. The workplace of Hiari White.
Larak – A desert-dwelling creature. Birdlike in appearance, the Larak has an extendable neck that allows it to snatch carrion meat away from other predators from a safe distance. The Valang believe the animals bring omens.
LARP – Live Action Role Play, an activity that Gabriel Sorensen and his friends enjoy. They play in the fictional locale of Ironblade Crossing near the Lake Laberge Reservation in the Yukon Territory. (See Researching Reality for more information)
Laszlo – A pirate who sails under the flag of Captain Renārs Valdis, captain of the Carrion Ghost.
Lawless Armada – Once a fleet of pirate ships, now only loosely governed by the Skeleton Crew operating out of the Shadow Isles. The Lawless Armada was founded by two women known as the Lady and the Larcenist. (See also Genna and Cassia)
Leif – A miller's apprentice from House Pavilium and student at the Academy.
Let Us Go – An Arulion funereal march and song of sorrow due to their slavery to the Aru Faylen. (Listen now)
Lhoora Shau – Capital city of the Shoshalm. It hangs in a kelp forest beneath a floating island that drifts in the Allodapic Ocean.
Liam Everswift – Son of Ylesha Evertorch and Adra. Grandson of Kaia, Ydama, Payta, and Mary Swift.
li'Bragh – A gru'Esh of the po'Esh clan. Imaginative and clever, it becomes friends with Gabriel Sorensen and also goes by "Libra." Its best friend is Lyphus. (See also Lyphus)
Lilith –​ A Blade on a secret mission in Tranthaea.
Lily Doyle – From 2021 Ireland. Sassy and sharp, she is Payta's fledge.
Locustia Moss – An invasive species of moss native to the harsher climes of Nua Verden. It grows beneath the surface of the ground, and when it identifies root systems, surfaces to engulf and devastate other plant life.
Lomarr – A Valang Unionist agent. (See also Unionism)
London, England – The home of Callum Swift.
Lo'prog'mak – A bustling city on the Plains, on the crossroads of two major trade routes.
Loquant – An officer of the Vox, not assigned a unit, they work on patrol around the city.
Lord Regent – The head of the Circle of Barons and elected leader of Nua Verden.
Los Angeles, USA​ – The home of Jingwei Li and Hunter Wells.
Losythia – A rare plant from Nua Verden.
Loyalism – One side of the Valang Schism. After the Second Battle of Barricade, the Valang collapsed into a Civil War over the issue of re-joining the Tranthaean world or removing themselves from all contact. Loyalists favoured the former. (See also Valang Schism)
Lucine Andonian – A young Lady of House Voxeter, a true social butterfly and acquaintance of Genevieve Tosetti.
Luke Brandol – A middle-aged Human/Daevyn descendant of Joanna Brandol, the infamous bandit. (See also, Joanna Brandol)
Lynus - An Aru Elen medico who joins the Daevyn and assists in governing Ysylum. (See also Ysylum)
Lyphus – A young Aru Elen. A real goofball and pralomar addict, it becomes friends with Gabriel Sorensen. Its best friend is li'Bragh. (See also li'Bragh and Pralomar)
