Daevyn – A Plains-dwelling race descended from the Human First Flame-Bearer and his Aru Elen wife. The Daevyn are almost exclusively blond and look very similar to Humans, but they have two bony protrusions in place of their shoulder blades, where the wings of their ancestors were. They all have surnames that are chosen for them when they come of age, meaning that there are no familial names in their society. The Daevyn live their lives in or around their capital city on the Plains; Yshaar, and are ruled over by the Flame-Bearer: a monarchical position handed down by blood from the time of the First Flame-Bearer.

A bar called a generator is set over the palm which, when squeezed, releases a bolt of energy from the Firedart. The energy is taken from the Collectors that are spread across the Plains. The Buckler is a small, circular shield that is attached to the warrior’s left greave. It can be used to block Firedart bolts but must be grounded occasionally to avoid building up a dangerous charge of its own.
