Baafor – A large, underwater predator. Spiny, with two tail fins, massive teeth, and bulbous eyes, this animal's scales, skin, organs, and skeleton are almost entirely transparent. It resides mainly in freshwater lakes to the east of the mountains.
Balcar – A Grand Amputor in the Valang military. A Unionist. (See also Unionist)
Baron – A leader of one of the Houses of Nua Verden. Barons sit on the Circle of Barons and elect a Lord Regent every ten years from within the Circle.
Barricade – A city founded on the site of the Battle of Barricade, name so because of the rock ridge that Ila, the Soil Keeper, pulled from the ground to protect the southern forest. Barricade is unique in that it is the only city in Tranthaea where the different peoples of the world can co-exist.
Bellicora – One of the ten Houses of Nua Verden. (See also Houses)
Bellua – A city in the clouds that crown the Mountains of Du Garrah. Bellua was once an Aru Len city, but was abandoned by the Aru Faylen after the Battle of Barricade. It is noted for its glass domes and globes perched on top of tall silver poles.
Blackleaf – A plant found in the southern forests. It is extremely poisonous.
Blade-Finned Romi – Highly carnivorous underwater creatures with long, thin bodies and two large, extended fins, one on each side of their narrow bodies. Known in Tranthaea as peest. Symbol of House Brontide. (See also Peest)
Blades – Graduates of the Academy. A unit of Blades is called a Shadow. (See also Academy)
The Blight – A toxin accidentally created by gru'Esh scientists that will kill if any amount is ingested. Only Humans are immune to its effects.
Boius – An Arulion male youth who lives in Barricade. He leads a gang that runs into trouble a number of times.
Bone-blade – A Valang weapon. Much like a sword, it is a single piece fashioned from the ribs of the dramblis. (See also Dramblis)
Bot Sakor – A border town between Ta'ar and Runat Far, controlling a strategically important river.
br’Atakh – Clan Leader of the po’Esh, first tribe of the gru’Esh.
Breakers – The Talented Humans that Yriel Sparkcatcher trained to defeat the united Tranthaean armies; they are basically anti-Keepers. There are five kinds of Breakers: Scorchlings, Razers, Cyclonists, Poisoners, and Cascaders. They are grouped in units called Clashes.
Brianna – A popular girl from Hunter's class in L.A. in 2012.
Bridget – A young woman from 1882. She is a pickpocket from London and partner to Callum Swift.
Brontide – One of the ten Houses of Nua Verden. (See also Houses)
Bruum – An Aru Faylen leader, she took over after Wrem was captured by the Arulion. It was under her guidance that the Aru Faylen committed themselves to Yriel Sparkcatcher’s new world order.
Brydge – The common language of Tranthaea. We know it as English. Other languages and dialects exist in Tranthaea, but Brydge is used most often. It began as Bridge, intended to unite the peoples of Tranthaea, but the spelling changed over time.
